Default broken converter?

This might be a noob question, but I just finished pullin the converter out of my tranny, and when I hold the converter in the air and move it side to side, it clunks. Move it to the left, *clunk*. Then move it back to the right, *clunk*. I can feel the stuff inside moving. Is it supposed to do this? I don't have the new one in yet to compare, so i'm not sure if its normal.
