Default just wondering??

i have a 98 automatic Z28 camaro and in D the car is suppose to accelerate and decelerate rougher than in OD right, i mean it takes off and shifts fine but the shifts are firmer and it declerates alot quicker than in OD. is this normal and im just overprecausious of my car or is this not normal??

Naw....leaving it in D just keeps it from shifting into 4th. That's all.

No, taking off is the same
Like Pewterpowre said it just doesnt shift into 4th. Meaning the first three gears are going to be the exact same. It revs higher on the street because you are in 3rd instead of 4th when driving down the road. So it may seem more powerfull, but is the exact same thing. 4th gear is your gas mileage gear, and you can only get into 4th in OD. But at WOT you wont hit 4th until about 120 mph.

it may just be all in my head b/c of the higher rpms but i was just wondering, i like driving in D b/c the high rpms make the exhaust louder and since i have a flowmaster all i really have is sound but that will all change once i get my cutout put on.

Yes
It makes the exhaust louder and loses you gas mileage. I used to drive in D instead of OD when i first got my car, and when i went to driving in OD i picked up about 2-3 mpg.
