here is what i have gathered:
Get a chevy bellhousing.....long tailshaft.
If you go t-350 I THINK the stock m6 crossmember would work as well as the driveshaft
t-400 you need to have your driveshaft modified
T-400 you will need an aftermarket crossmember like a BMR.
Either way tranny you will either need a chassis mounted torque arm OR when you buy the crossmember, you can get one that relocates your torque arm from the tranny to that new crossmember.
If you get a converter made, they can make it so the pilot fits into the back of the ls1
If you get a regular t-350/400 converter, you will need to get a spacer that goes on the flywheel to make the short pilot reach
Either way, with a stock flywheel, you have to elongate the holes a little bit to get the torque converter bolts to line up.
You can buy a TCI flexplate and not have to elongate holes. (i dunno if that flexplate eliminates the need for a spacer or not)
You can use the stock shifter easily with a forward valve body.....some modding to use it with a reverse manual valvebody.
They make a relucter ring/harness/and sensor to make the speedo work.
You can use one of your abs sensors to get the vss signal from but you will lose ABS
All i can think of at the moment....someone correct or modify if something is not right
