Default Heres a dumb question

If you can bolt a th350, th400 to an LS1 by using a 98-99 flexplate and a spacer. That would mean you could do the same to bolt any year 4L60E or 700R4 out of any vehicle to an LS1.
You'd just need the flexplate, spacer and f-body tail housing.
So why did GM design the LS1 transmissions with a different converter/input?
