Default Rebuilding My Tranny

Im thinking about buying either the vhs or dvd on how to rebuilt a tranny (4l60e specific) and doing it myself. I know I will need some tools as well.

For those who have done this how hard is it? Do you think I should try it or not?

I plan to buy a rock on next spring but I wont be putting a lot of power to it until later next summer, so i hate to buy one and let the warranty run out before I really start using it.

However right now mine is gone. Im making about 450hp 550tq.

What exackly do I need to buy. Again I only want to have a semi good tranny. I dont expect it to hold when I put the turbo on next summer.

Are these parts good?

Are there better rebuilt kits for the price?

TCI 379110 4L60E rebuild kits -includes new clutches & steels-$110

I found this kit in tsp's garage sell as well. How does it compare to the 2 above..

thanks for all the help.

This is one of those things where if ur really confident and have the tools and have good knowledge of the tranny and can understand the manuals pretty well then u might be able to do it. Ive help my friend who does trannies at a tranny shop do about 5, 4L60E's and i still wont attempt one alone unless he is supervising. There are alot of places where u mess one thing up and the whole tranny is doomed. Unless u know some one who knows what they are doing i wouldnt do it alone. Thats just my opinion.
