Question Best Street/strip tranny?

Okay, my 4L60E is hanging on buy a thread. Need a street/strip tranny, to handle about 600HP. Any suggestions/recomendations on said tranny? Down time not a factor.

if you don't trust any of the built overdrive trannys, then i'd suggest a built TH350 for being lightweight, and getting more power to the ground. if you're on a budget, then go w/ a TH400 since they are cheaper to build to hold those power levels.

i think if you went with a really good trans builder you could get your 4l60e to hold up to 600flywheel h.p.

i think rossler builds 4l60e's now. FLP, and SpeedInc both sell good built trans. i think FLP has a little better rep with their trans than speed...

it all depends on your budget and where you're located. TSI in the chicagoland area does REAL good trans work. i'm not sure if they have done any of the A4's though.

i have a TH400 with a reverse manual valve body and a trans brake. i drive it on the street a lot. i love it. but many people aren't willing to give up the overdrive. i should have gone with a lighter, smaller motor and had a good 4l60e built. ahh the lessons we learn. lol

depends... TH350 will be more expensive to build if you have a high h.p. application. you can sell the A4 to recoup some cost... but if you buy a built A3 trans, it will probably be somewhere around 1,500-2,000 for the trans, another 500-1,000 for a converter, 200 for a shifter, 300-400 for a new driveshaft, and then if you have a shop do the conversion for it... it could cost another 1,000 on top of that.

so you're looking at over 3 grand on the low side.......
i got SO lucky getting mine. i got a straight up trade, all my stock 6spd stuff, for a used built TH400. and only paid 500 to have the conversion done. i like it... i'd like a bigger stall, but i'm not complaining with the deal that i got!

cool I appreciate the info.

I heard that tci's streetfighter tranny is a good way to go. Does anybody run that tranny or heard of anyone running the tranny.
