SS4000 & 3.73 Results :( NEED SLICKS
Alright, to begin, absolutely horendous times, didn't beat my best of 10.7@100, all due to spinning all the way through first, spinning 3/4 through 2nd, hitting the rev limiter on the 2-3 shift on a couple of runs (damn tuning still not right). The runs were all made in 44* to 33* temperatures on bald nittos. here the times are as follows:
Run 1
60 ft: 2.06
1/8 ET: 8.37
1/8 MPH: 82.4
1000 ET: 10.88
1000 MPH: 85.85 (have no clue how that happened)
That would be the best run of the night, that was spinning through 1st, 2nd, and hitting the rev limiter.
Run 2
60 ft: 2.33
1/8 ET: 9.03
1/8 MPH: 85.76
1000 ET: 11.34
1000 MPH: 98.10
This would be the slowest run of the night, although it had one of the highest traps of the night. This was spinning through 1st, 2nd, and hitting the rev limiter.
Run 3
60 ft: 2.20
1/8 ET: 8.57
1/8 MPH: 84.83
1000 ET: 10.90
1000 MPH: 97.44
This was me maunally shifting the auto, so it didn't tap the rev limiter at all, but did spin bad through 1st and 2nd. Dropped the psi to 15 pounds for the rest of the night.
Run 4
60 ft: 2.05
1/8 ET: 8.58
1/8 MPH: 85.32
1000 ET: 10.91
1000 MPH: 97.00
Once again, manually shifting, spinning through 1st and 2nd.
Run 5
60 ft: 2.17
1/8 ET: 8.57
1/8 MPH: 83.18
1000 ET: 10.94
1000 MPH: 95.70
manually shifting, spinning through 1st and 2nd.
So after tonight, I have DEFINATELY decided that Prostars and ET Streets are what i'm asking for for christmas or something, and that i've DEFINATELY got to get my tuning worked out, becuase it's KILLING my times. Any other thoughts?

How are you launching the car? Are you stalling it up or taking off at idle? Best results for me are to stall it up then release the brake, the car will take off, then roll into the throttle. Do NOT floor it immediately after letting of the brake!! Let the car sit first, then when she's rolling a bit, lay into the gas.

It hits the rev limiter in every shift, the tune isn't right for some reason, and i've tried and tried and can't get it right, and it's $80 every time I want to change something on the tune.

in terms of launching, i cut a 1.7 60' with the mods in sig, on bfg drag radials, 16 psi in them. stalled to ~2,800 and immediately floored it on green, the car DEAD hooked and made my vision slightly blurry, as it was my 1st sub 2.0 60'. ran an 8.18 @ 80 1/8 mile...bone stock tune at that time. after the trans tune i think i'd run sub 8.1.

yeah, i think i could've done better, but i only had 3 runs, and the first two were a total waste. i don't think 1.7 is too bad considering my only motor mod is a lid. track prep is exceptional at that track, i know i can get away with more than 16 psi in the tires, but i wanted to make SURE i would hook, as it was the first round of eliminations...my two practice runs i totally lit the tires with 25 psi in them both times - resulting in a 2.1 60' x 2.

when i got my 4000 stall i found that on my nittos i could not just floor it on green, the tires would spin bad every time and my best 60's were in the 2.0 range. so fianlly i began to stall it up to 3000 and roll into the gas and thats netted me 1.8 60's on 17 psi. best run right now is in sig. should be better when i get my draglites and m/ts bolted up.

PT4000 Yank-Nitto's
Foot brake to 3000 rpm,let go of brake, slowly roll into it
1.61-1.63 all day with this method.
I'm lowered with lower control arm relocation brackets and stock internals.
Congrats on your times, work on that lead foot of yours and your 60 ft times will drop, just takes practice.
Good luck
Dave

I've got 3.73's and a SS 4000 also, but I have the ET streets to back that up. I had to drop my shift points so it wouldnt bounce off the limiter. I think I set them at 5750, it actually shift at ~6100rpm. Once you get the shift points dialed in and some ET street expect some 1.6x 60fts and at least 12.5xx.

The 1 time i got to the track this year(really 1 time, that sucks) was for the M10 event at Stanton this year.
Not really enough time trials to try new stuff.
I used to have the SS4000 and this launch worked real good for that vertor too.
The PT4000 is a little softer launch than the SS4000,but i now have a better shift extention and much better edge from a roll type race.
I really felt like this vertor could get launched a little higher rpm ,just like you suggested, but this track trip was about bracket racing and repeating the same times overand over.
I went 5 rounds,before redlighting .
I want to get a new set of E/T streets(i have 26-11.5-16's on Z28 stockers)
and get some test and tune time at the track.
I should be able to improve my NITTO drl times with a new set of E/T's
Your suggestion is just what i want to try first .
