i don't think you understand how a lock up works. you will still be in third gear it will just act like an M6 car in fourth gear as in no converter slip when you give it gas. To me its not worth it my converter doesn't slip that much on the highway after you get to the cruising speed you want to stay at anyways.
And many companies don't offer high performance lock up th350 converters. There is also more parts in the tranny and converter and that just means more possibilities of parts breaking under the stress or racing.
I have an 8" 5100 stall in my th350 and it ok on the highway, about as good as you can get with no overdrive. i still get 20 mph on the highgway.

we make a lock up th350-c converter and I have a 3800 stall lock up one in stock,
but the transmission uses diff. parts than a std th350 and uses a unique converter

I had a lockup TH350 in my last car. The trans is a TH350C that GM made for a couple years. IMO the lockup is waste of time and money, steady cruise on the highway with a 4200 converter would only make a couple hundred RPM difference at best. Natuarally going up a hlll or at higher throttle the rpm difference would be more. Naturally heat would be less with the converter locked up aslo..

Problem with the TH350C also is they dont make a trans brake or manual valve body for one. Also I broke an input shaft with only 500rwhp and since they are unique to a TH350C and no one makes a stronger one then stock you cant upgrade it.

Th TH400 lockup setups use custom parts though, if i had to have a lockup I would go with a lockup 400 but they are big money.
