Are there any tricks on getting these front pumps off on our trannies?

You can pry on the bottom of the pump with a large screw driver through the valvebody side of the case, but its not reccomended because you could cause damage.

The perfered method is to use the pump puller.

This is assuming you removed the pan and removed the filter and TCC Solenoid.

You need to remove the bellhousing with a torx plus 50IP bit to get the pump back in.
