Default transgo install done

my transgo install is done finally!! It takes right around 9 hours

in the driveway with jack stands with a few breaks in between and my tools

are not currently organised. I think if you had your tools in order ,had no

interuptions,no 50mph oklahoma winds and a clean area to work in, it would

take right around 5-6 hours in your driveway..

I was going to do a write up for this but I think the included instructions are

actually fine! they make sense and the video is for a older version of the

4l60e "basics still apply" the tape says stop and do what your instructions

say...just ignore the tape from there on for a bit and you will be fine !

this write up might help someone! its for a B&M kit but it gives you the general

idea of where things are that the transgo kit doesnt get into. "on the video

or instructions." all the tools needed still applies! dont forget the vaseline!

http://www.fullsizechevy.com/forums/...d.php?t=114807

Its a funny thing to walk into walgreens and buy a tub of vaseline

lol you get some weird looks from the checkout people! but yah need it to

keep the check ***** inplace or trans gel if yah have access to some

my car shifts harder now at part and full throttle and goes into gear with a

thump now and one thing weird happened though.

at 70 mph with tc lockup applied I used to be at 2350 rpms now im at 2100

rpms!?!?! both rpms were with the same tci 3500 stall convertor I wonder if I

was starting to slip a little?!?! maybe more pressure is applied or the correct

pressure to be applied is present now...

Looking at that write-up the install doesnt look that bad, but I will be doing the work with the tranny out of the vehicle and the tranny flipped up side down. Won't all the check ***** fall out when I remove the valve body?

Default check *****

they sure will!

fallout like madd! you got the trans upside down so they WILL...

UNLESS you take off the bracket that hold down the seperator plate

and bring up the sperator plate with the valve body!!

then yah only have 1 check ball to worry about!!

So why does everyone say that it is easier to do the Transgo install with the tranny out of the car? I might as well wait until I put it back into the car before I do the install!!

You need to work on the trans when it's level if it's out. You can mount it to an engine stand.
Some say it's easier to install out of the car I guess because with it in the car you have transmission fluid constantly dripping out of it and it usually gets everywhere, it runs down your arms, get in your hair, etc.

Just make a sturdy fixture that holds the trans level. Maybe out of 2x6 wood.

I've done it but on an engine stand, and put the vb back on with no transgel or anything holding the ***** in place.
