A way to start the New Years, 3-4 gone. (updated) shift kit question?
I thought the 4L60e guys would like this post, as I read for a while that people are always wondering how long their tranny will last, well this is my story.
On new years I blew 3-4 gear clutches just trying to past someone on the highway not even WOT, so I have decided to rebuild the 4L60e to a stage2
I never raced and was only putting 379 to the wheels and the tranny went out after 9k miles after mods, stock before that (about 19k) (mods in sig, about 3k with the cam, 6k with 330 rwhp, 6k with the verter) with a total of 28k on a 2002, what a bitch.

mine are gone and i'm pretty much right above stock power, and i doubt i ever shot into OD at WOT because i have never been higher than 130 due to the fact my shitty 235 tires might blow or something. racing with 2 gears sucks, after 80mph at WOT its nothing but rev limiter.

I started at about 33k when i bought it, to be honest i think the HPP3 i had, had something to do with my tranny going so soon. It made the car act weird, it wouldn let me go past 4k even if i manually held the gear, so i sold it. Soon after my tranny started to slip very lightly and now on WOT runs it slips like a champ and sometimes sticks in 2nd gear and wont come out till i let off. It was slipping before the headers.

i have 50k on my car, with a ton of track passes. The last 10k were with a 3600 stall and cutting consistant 1.6-1.7 60' at the track. The tranny runs great! I often **** at WOT to third, and od with no issues (highway races suck in an auto with high gears ) My torque management is off and i run bfg drag radials all the time. I think regular maintenance is key, change my fluid a couple times a year and filter once a year. IMO Good luck with your new tranny

so I got the stage 2 4l60e with a shift kit installed, just a generall question about the shift kit, from my 1-2 shift, is it supposed to jerk a little bit, like a harder shift? and when the converter locks, it does the same? I think this is normal but my experience with shift kits is null

We lost our 3rd and 4th on Sunday on the 4th run. It went without warning. The transmission was rebuit about 1 and half years ago with all Ratek Alto Red clutches. I work at a Chevorlet Dealership and talked with my transmission guy, he said to take the servo motor 1/4 of a turn clockwise and it will help the 3/4 clutches hold up. My son and I will be rebuilding the 4l60e for the 2nd time, we run a transgo shift kit also. The 4l60e just can't handle the power of a 7 second or less 1/8 mile car. The 3/4 clutches are weak and I have not found a solution yet.
