The 6L80E is going to be difficult to retrofit because it uses an internal Transmission Control Module. This module located in the transmission communicates over the GMLAN Data Bus, something most of our current PCMs are not setup to do.

TCI will have an interface box within the next 12 months. The 6L80E tranny is lighter than the 4L80E (125kg wet) at 103kg wet. I think the strongest version is rated around 550lb/ft. Low gear is even lower than the 4L60E (3.06) at like 4.10. Gears 5&6 are OD's.

I know the "new" Escalade will run a 6-speed auto, along with a 6.2 liter motor. (403 HP) There are always the under/over drives, but don't want the hassel for extra gears.
Drove the SS Trailblazer the other day, and was impressed. Generally. Needs a little more in certain area's, but a cool set up for reasonable money. Have always taken older cars to redue. I think this time I'm starting with "new" and going from there. ie: SS Trailblazer, AWD, Supercharged LS2, 6 speed auto, etc. Some mods will be poping up soon for these vehicles. baffles

Oh wow, I didn't think the 4L80E had any load-bearing bands.... I thought all the pressure, etc was handled by clutches... and that was part of what made it so strong.

The 6L80E is all clutches.
