Default 2 overdrives?

hey guys, i just bought a 98 z with a rebuilt stock a4 with a 3300 stall. well everything goes good untill i hit overdrive and everything is still good (and i know it's in o/d becuase i can pull it down into d and it will shift down) and after running in o/d a while it acts like it shifts into another gear like a 2nd o/d but doesn't stay like that long and shifts back to the regular o/d. what could this be? o/d not shifting in all the way or what? please help on this.

hmm...

Ok. lets recap..

your cruising along and you shift into 4th or od, right? Than, soon after the trans will shift again or drop rpms an dfeel less "slippy" or tighter?

That should be your stall locking up if it is a lock-up, which it should be...

You probably have a misfire code causing the TCC to unlock. You need to have it scanned and find out what is causing it to unlock.
