700R not shifting My brother has a 91 GMC 1500 with a 700r and it will not shift out of 1st gear. Park ,rev and 1st works but nothing else, does anyone have any experence with these trannys that could help. thanks Phill

The govenor is under a cover just foward of the speed sensor. Remove the dome shaped cover and simply grab the govenor and pull it out. The gear is plastic and I have seen a few chewed up. If its bad just go get another one and slip it back in. Good luck.

I checked the governor gear this morning and it looked like new so I guess it is something internal and will have to go to the shop. thanks for yalls help
