Default Paging Fuddle and those who burnt up their tranmissions

Ok, so I toasted my trans last week, lost second gear. So I pulled my trans out and the fluid looked like it had about 10k miles on it, but it was really only about 75. In the process of cleaning I found no metal on the magnet, but upon passing a pen magnet through the old fluid I picked up maybe 5 tiny peices of metal. I am not sure if they came from my trans or where just laying in the bucket to begin with so anyway, I am in the process of refilling and emptying the converter to clean it out the best I can. I called fuddle about 5 times in the past few days and didn't get anyone, haven't got a call back either. My question is this; do I need to have my converter cut open and cleaned out before I put it back in?

anyone can do that but fuddle does it for free if thats important to you. Now how that affects your converter warranty, i dont know. I'd talk to John about that. Apparently they are VERY busy....unfortunate for us but a good sign nonetheless

I did, but with school and such my time is a little limited. I really want to get my car together this week, it would suck if it had to be shipped out and shipped back and i'm guessing it would take a little bit considering how busy john is.

I would have it opened up, if by chance any of that metal got to the converter it may have torn something up, i wouldnt risk it.

Have you pulled the trans yet?

How does the fluid in the converter look?

If your crunched for time, just have midwest do it. But, you can get it done with John under warranty and no charge except shipping. I would not put it in w/o at a minimum flushing it out a few times, pour fluid in, pour fluid out and repeat....

i would just keep tryign to get ahould of John. He is a really nice guy andwill take care of you, and im sure you dont want to void the warrenty on the TC. I would just say like others have said adn throw in the stock TC untill you get yours back from John. It will be worth the wait, and besides what if you DID mess soemthign in the TC up, you wouldnt want to put it back in and fry a new trans would you?

Crack it open, flush it, weld it back. Anyone can do this - John doesnt have to. Or... Try as best u can to flush it without opening her up.
