Trans removal/Torque Conv. Install
I am ordering my Yank TC tommorow, how difficult is the tranny to remove? How hard is the top bolts on the tranny to get to? Besides exhaust, drive shaft, cats and Y pipe, what else has to come off? Can I use just my trusty Craftsman floor jack to safely remove the tranny with the help of a good friend? I like to think I am a desent mechanic, put my Long Tubes on by myself but never dropped a trany before. Any advice? Thanks
ps. Search doesnt work with a **** on here, tried it a couple of times!!

the top bolt was easy for me to get to if you have trouble just take the intake manifold off..if your going to use the craftmans floor jack get a piece of wood or something and put in between the two objects, more surface are for support...you have to be care when putting in the new TC there are two metal notches on the inside of the tranny that the TC has to slide into if you dont do it right when you start your car the front pump will break..it just happen to me as well. i sure you know but just in case...put trans fluid in the TC before putting it on ABout 3 quarts or so should fit in it. you have to remove 3 bolts that connects the flexplate to the TC by dropping the starter and plastic plate....after all done you might have to get a big bar to pry the tranny away from the motor sometimes it get suck on there pretty good...hope this helps.

Those are very good directions...
I was lucky enough to have a lift to do this on, I couldnt imagine doing it lying on my back... If you have a friend that works at a dealership or something along those lines, talk to one of them, usually they have a 'hobby' night or something like that where you can bring it in for a few hours and put it on a lift...
It would make your install ALOT easier!!!
And enjoy that TC... I love my Yank SS4000

When turning the motor, do you turn it clockwise or counterclockwise? Thanks.
How about when adding fluid to the torque converter, I take it just put the quart of fluid directly into the shaft, will this not spill out? Thanks again.
