Default gears or new stall

should I get new gears or move up to a bigger stall?I have 2.73 and want to move up to a 3.42 or should I move up to a 3500 stall.I have a 2800 stall but when I punch it goes to 3200rpm.I feel like its to slow I guess maybe I got use to the power. It is not a track car.

You can do both. Between the 2, the stall wins big time. Do both and you have a winner. 3.73s and 3500 stall=fun.

Since his won't be a track car, the 3.73s will hurt his highway gas mileage. BurtReynolds, do you do alot of highway driving or city driving?

Good, then the converter will hurt his city driving.

True but then the gears will hurt his highway driving. Which is why I want to know what kind of driving he does most.

I do alot of highway driving.I like 2.73because my car hooks easy with street tire and I do like the 65 punch on the higway.I just dont like 2nd gear. it takes to long to shift.I am seriously thinking about 3500 stall with a 2.0str.That is some nice times with that 3800 stall.12.2 in the 1/4 with 2.73.Do you have the stock 10 bolt.

Yes I am still on the stock 10bolt. Once you get the stall put in, street tires will be pretty much useless depending on the STR. If you do alot of highway driving, like me, I would get the stall and change gears later if at all.

A stall will get rid of the dead spots and make the car shoot out of the hole, 3.23s won't even come close.
