Default Fuddle with stock transmission?

My A4 just lost third gear so I'm purchasing a new GM 4l60e since I work at a dealership and get a smoking deal. Plus as of 4/15/05 GM offers a 3yr/100k warranty on all of there units. Would it be safe to run a Fuddle converter in an otherwise stock trans.

I'ma tell you how my experience went. I put a conveter in my car and the stock trans was fine. I decided to spray and changed my trans before it went out. There is a HUGE HUGE HUGE difference in how my stock trans was compared to how this built tranny is. It was definately worth going with a built tranny.

I've got a buddy that's running a Yank 4600 in a stock tranny who runs 7.1's in the 1/8th spraying and he's never had a problem. He's been doing this for over a year now. The stock tranny is fine.

i would do it..get the factory tranny...a BUNCh of local BIg cubic inch a4 car around here go threw trannies like nothing..and i asked one of them which one was the best..and he said the factory tranny with the line pressure bumped up a bit and a cooler lasted him 2 years with 6.8 1\8 mile times...but i would put a deep pan on it and a 24 b&m cooler..IMO!

If you aren't planning on doing any other mods go for it. When you swap out trannies keep yours and then build it up for when the stock unit says goodbye.

I'm really interested in the GM transmission because I get a good deal thru my work (aka; order then pay for it when I get the money). The car will never see sticky tires or have any kind of power adder (I have another car for that). I just want something thats fun to daily drive, that you could drive anywhere in the country on a road trip but will hold its on stop light to stop light. I'm really leaning towards one of the Fuddle pieces for the money but I don't want to accelerate the wear on a brand new transmission.

Default Steal Thread!

Ok not to steal your thread, but im in the same dilemma.

Im thinking about Fuddle and need opinions.
I have 2.73's on my car, and since its my DD for college, I dont really care to get better or higher gears. Maybe 3.42's, but then I have to get my PCM tuned...again.

What is the stock stall on my 95 4L60E?
With some minor boltons, (My present list) and what I have planned for the future, what do you guys recommend?
DO you NEED a cooler, or is it justa good idea?

Is a 2600 a good choice?
For DD, how long will the aftermarket COnverter last?

Go to the Fuddle website and fill out their form with all your info, they will recommend what is best, yes you need a cooler ($50), I'm even thinking of going with a deeper Tranny pan to have more fluid to keep it cool... I put a cooler on my stock tranny to help keep it longer. I just ordered my 3200 stall but I have an LS1.

Ok, I spoke with John@Fuddle several times and he has been very helpful and prompt with his replies.

I plan on ordering a converter from him next week. Now, what transmission cooler will fit on these cars without alot of modication. Is anyone still running their fluid thru the radiator first or just completly bypassing it? Also will I have plenty of ground clearance with the TCI deep pan?

I wouldn't bypass the stock setup.

I got an RV cooler with close fin density. It was about $50. Worked good with a 3500 stall.

It depends where you put your line pressure at. If you bump it up a little it's not going to hurt much. However, run it with a shiftkit then see what happens.
