When your tranny goes, does it take anything with it?

Default When your tranny goes, does it take anything with it?

I just upgraded to a 12 bolt and extra strength DS and now I'm wondering if I should have done my trans first. It still works fine now but I don't think it's going to last much longer. I'm worried if it goes at the track, does it usually take anything with it other than maybe the converter? I would hate to break anything I have already upgraded. Anyone trashed thier tranny and have to replace other parts too?

i dont think you'd have a problem hurting anything else. usually the trannies go when the bands fail, which keeps the tranny from shifting into gear. I guess the worst that could happen from that is that you overrev the engine. Now if you broke a u-joint or driveshaft things could be worse. helps to have a driveshaft loop

Something in the tranny / conv. locked up solid and broke the crank near the flange... the tranny case came apart and somehow the rear center section also sustained damage. It was quite a few years ago but something make me believe there was a heavy dose of N2O involved. I do remember it was toward the finish line and it took forever to get it all cleaned up off the track and there was pieces inside the car as well.
