Smile is the 4L80e better than 4L60e?

Is there an advantage to upgrading to the 4L80e? Does anyone do this? Thanks

The 4l80e is rated for more Tq in stock form than the 60. Many ppl have upgraded to a 4l80e, Im one of them. Think of it as a T400 w/ OD. there is no downside.

Is there any changes in the car that need to be made? Like any wiring or is it a direct fit for EVERYTHING?

Nope stock driveshaft works. Just have to get a different yoke to fit the 4l80e. But then agian Im still on the stock rear. There is a wiring harness you have to buy from speartech, Your PCM will also need changing by HPtuners or someone like that. Its not something you can do yourself, crossmemeber (BMR, Yank), A converter that will fit the 80e & bolt up to the LS1/LS6 flywheel. (fuddle) The trans cooler lines have to be bent at the trans. Im in the process of swaping this out myself as we speak....

Yank sells a crossmember for the 4L80E conversion. Fuddle couldn't have figured out as they don't sell one. Why trust them?

The 4L80E has a slightly diff harness and uses an extra speed sensor over the 4L60E in most applications. It is basically a TH400 with overdrive as previously stated. Very expensive trans to buy from the dealer. They hold up to the late model big block quite well.
