Default Do I need a shift kit?

First off, what the hell does it do? If we don't technically shift-what does it do? Are these necessary to have when you are heavily modded?

Its supposed to be alot more agressive. Allowing the driver to control the gears better, faster... with a crisper shift. It allows you to choose a gear depending on your RPM's.

Im assuming that when your at a higher rpm and driving more agressive, it will allow you to hold that gear there versus upshifting and then having to downshift again to get back into the powerband.

Its also supposed to be more durable... so, instead of re-building the tranny, it would upgrade it.
