Sounds like the shop who installed your tc might have a loose tc to flywheel bolt. Or your flywheel might be broke. I would get with the shop and have them take a look at it. Good luck!

im having the same problem with my fuddle 3800, but i called up fuddle and who ever i talked to said it was normal. I dont think it is, let me know if you find anything out. He told me that unlike a normal converter wich has clutches that allow the converter to slip when locking up so you dont feel it, their converters dont slip at all and that is where you get the grinding.

Hmm well i just found a little puddle of tranni fluid on the ground. the guy who installed my tranni cooler musta not tightend a hose tight enough or something because thats were the leak is comeing from. ima look at it tomorrow and fix that then take it for a ride and see if i can get it to "grind" again.. did it grind for you all the time? so far for me its only sometimes. not even once a day i was able to replicate it tho yesterday i guess i will just see if i can do it again after i top it off with fluid. if i do ima be pissed and ima be callen fuddle on monday and given them a nice *** chewen. espesall cuz its going to cost me another 250 to swap in a new converter.

Sounds like the converter is locking up under too much load. When my car was an A4 I tried a TCI and it worked great but I also had it programmed to lockup only in fourth and around 50 mph.
One day I manually locked it under load and it made this scary grinding noise.
Small converter with a small clutch has to be tuned to lockup under light load only and unlock with minimum throttle.

so i could possably fix this with a tune? because it is only when under load. and only sometimes. i have not contacted john at fuddle yet. i was going to see if it went away. or if thier was a fix first i dont want to have to take it out. besides i no longer have the stock one to replace it wile i wiat for a new one.

If it were me I'd try tuning first.
And it's not really grinding, it's more of a chatter but I know it sounds awful. It's not doing as much damage as it sounds like.
But I would get it tuned ASAP.

My car had a non PWM valve in it for converter apply. If your has the stock PWM it might seem worse. It might set the ses light, it might stop locking up because it's detecting slippage.

So it was the CONVERTER, damn i hope that shuts up a couple of people, glad you got it fixed man hope it stays in good shape at least the customer service is great.

By the way this is directed straight at you ---transsam--- guess i was right and it was the converter and not the tune, so it looks like you know nothing

i have a shift kit that REALLY emphasizes the lock-up procedure. i could feel my STOCK converter lock and unlock with this shift kit, it was like adding another gear...

but anyhow, my fuddle locks up perfectly. it hits like the tranny shifting again (not too sure this is a good thing..) but it does not make any noise or anything, it just locks up, regardless of my speed or how hard i'm accelerating..perfect lock-up. i think it's your converter if it only happens during lock-up. if it was a loose bolt or something, wouldn't it grind more often? the converter acted the same way before i had the tranny tuned, i only deleted TQM and adjusted the shift points, didn't touch the lock-up settings.
