Default I need a good converter for a 89 TTA

What would be my best converter for a TTA? I dont want to loose streetabilty nor do I want to sacrafice trap speed for good 60'. I play around from time to time on the street with those pesky LS1s and dont want to give up to much big end pull. Let me know what you guys think is best. Also is lock-up or non lock-up better for the turbo cars.

If you have a stock turbo or 44/49, stock D5 stall is fine for the street, especially for a mostly stock car.

I'd look to see what the GN guys are using.

So is stock D5 the stock converter. It will stall up pretty good but it takes a long time to build boost. It will stall to 2200 as it is but like I said it is slow to get boost up.

D5 is the stock converter. It stalls at ~2200-2400, at this point the car should start making boost, 1-3 psi. With the stock chip & wastegate components, full boost should be ~16.5 psi, and should get there pretty quickly, < 2 seconds (if I remember right). Sounds like you have other issues, possibly exhaust or vacuum leak, etc.

Check out http://www.edgeracingconverters.com/streetedge.htm
The 9.5" converters are great for the street...awesome spool times but still feel very tight for daily driving.

Thanks, should I use lock-up or non-lock-up?
The car has a street chip, adjustable wastegate, 3" down-pipe.

Lockup is good. Will keep the easy driving and help a little on mpg.

My 87 GN has a 3200 lockup and drives like any other streetcar and gets 1.58 60fts with 275/50/15 MT radials
