Default Stock Stall Speed?

tried searching, found nothing.

just as the title says: what is the stock stall converter's speed? i estimate 1800 - 2000 from my tach but we all know no RPM gauge is totally accurrate. the reason why i ask is i am against stalls due to transmission wear (the 4L60E isn't exactly a strong beast), but i would CONSIDER a 3000 stall at the very most along with new servos, clutches and a shift kit further in the future. i'd like to see how much of a jump this would be over the stock converter.

stock: 1600-1800 rpm stall speed, 1.8 str

Higher stall converters will not make the transmission (even our sorry lil 4l60e) wear any faster as long as you set it up with a proper cooler to keep the tranny temps in check. Heat is what kills trannies, not bigger converters. You would fall in love with your car all over again with a 3000 rpm stall, and wonder why you waited so long to put one in.

You'll probably get bored of the 3k stall and want a bigger one

I know quite a few people running 10s on their 4L60E, so I'm not sure where you're getting your info on these tranny's being weak. 4000 stall here. Daily drive it, and run low 11s

lol from stickies and the countless posts about people saying that they have gone through 4 trannies and several rebuilds, and from all the posts stating how the 4L60E can't even handle the stock power. i've had my car for 2 weeks and haven't gone over 4500rpms don't wanna hurt the tranny

**** my stock stall only lets me see 1100 RPM before the tires spin and thats on BFG drag radials. With the trannies is hit or miss. Mines a bolt on only car which just hit 60k and my tranny slips like a champ, yet i know a guy that is cammed and stalled hitting 11's with a stock 4L60E.

Brake stall is different than flash stall.
