gotta unbolt the converter also. Make sure you unbolt the x-member, and let the trans sag down to get at the top bell housing bolts. you will need ~36" of extensions. I use 2 24"'s. first time I had my trans down the dowel pins were seized up and it was a major PITA to get them to let go.

unbolt the crossmemebr and let the tranny hang...get a 36" extension and it only takes a minute.

Mine also has 8 bolts. The bellhousing itself has holes for 9 bolts but the block/oilpan will only take 8.

Hi,
I am missing the 2 lower bolts connecting the bellhousing to the oil pan.

One goes thru the bell housing into a threaded hole, the other looks to need a nut on the other side.

What size are these bolts so I can replace them? GM Part no.? What is the torque to tighten?

TIA

I think the bolt size is M10 - 1.5 pitch, But I'm not 100%, it's been a while. There should be no nuts used anywhere between bellhousing and block/tranny.
