New 4L60E Upgrades / Gear Ratios
I am looking at putting a new, or low, mileage 4L60E behind my 5.3 liter. I need to know what I should do to this tranny to make it better, i.e., shift kit, cooler, any upgrades to make it last. Should I buy a used tranny and have it rebuilt with a good kit, if so what kit? The motor will be relatively low HP, 350 - 360 HP. As advised, will probably go with a higher stall converter.
Can anyone tell me the difference in 4L60E's? Is there any different gearing, based on what model they are out of? Is there any difference in tranny's based on the year of production? I'm bolting it to a new 2004, LM4, all aluminum 5.3. It is going in a relatively lightweight '55 Studebaker pickup (3200 - 3500 lbs).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Give one of the sponsors a call. They are the experts and should be able to guide you in the right direction. I personally have had good experience with CK Performance Racing Transmissions, a site sponsor. Give them a call or any other sponsor for that matter!
