For the 4L60E you would need a control box, if they make one...check with TCI they do have one for the 4L80E, also an OD tranny, but much much stronger then the 60E. A dual pattern flexplate, also available from TCI, a converter to match the trans/engine combo (350 engine w/ 60E may or may not take a longer snout on the converter, or a spacer to be used, I'm not sure on reverse engineering). Dipstick to match trans, lokar usually has any and all trans covered, probably want to get the 36" version though, 24" are too short for use on a car..truck I dunno. DS splines are the same...if you have the 9" tailshaft the DS will swap over, if its a short shaft, you may need to have it lengthened, vice if its longer than 9" shortened.
It would be easier and stronger setup to get a Gearvendors Over/Underdrive unit.

thats the thing, i wasnt wanting to deal with all the electrical B.S. with the 4l60e so i was thinkin about something that isnt electric. is the gearvendors unit just a peice that i could bolt on to the th350? or is it more complex than that?

It bolts in place of the tailshaft, has a cooler with it, and an electric controller, which is pretty sweet setup. Its like the old GM Dimmer switch, or you can get a different type. It can be setup in auto mode, splitting gears as you drive, or you can setup in manual mode and footswitch when you want OD. nothing complicated.

Why don't you use a 700R4, it the same geartrain as the 4L60E but it's not electronic.
I had one in a 350 S10 conversion.

one of my friends gave me that idea too, im thinkin about that as well. im just lookin for other ideas right now. the gearvendors units are very pricey and most likely out of my price range.

i also heard that they make and adaptor plate that allows you to use a 5 speed out of a 5.0 or 4.6 mustang with the 350 small block. has anyone heard of this before?

The 5.0 mustangs use a T-5 just like the third gen f bodies, except the input is different, and probably other things. The 4.6 mustangs use a T-45 which is totally different and not worth adapting in IMO.
I used to have a 4.6 mustang, there is a company out there that makes kits to put 700R4's in them, so whoever came up with that thinks the 700 is better I guess.

You'll need a 700R4 converter.
