Default Rearend gears debate

I have ran my Camaro with excessive backlash in the rear end. The gears wine like its a semi. I was going to just buy a rebuild kit and redo the rear end gears. Right now it's all stock and I have 3.23's from the factory.. I was thinking getting 3.73's.. It's an automatic (3 speed + overdrive). It's my daily driver and I was wondering if going from 3.23 to 3.73 would effect gas mileage that much. I use this car on the highway a lot and didn't want to really effect the gas mileage.. What do you guys think? I figured if there wasn't much difference between 3.23 to 3.42 or 3.73... i'd just get the 3.73's... The gas mileage difference is the main concern... Let me know!

I would swap to 3.73s. I don't imagine it would go down all that much. You could post it over in the gear section:

They could probably help you out a lot there!
