2.1 STR too low?
I ordered a Yank SS3200 that I'm assuming is coming with a 2.1STR like it says on the website. I'm going to be using the 3:23s for a little while. I don't want the car to be mushy around town. Could somebody tell me what this should be like?

This I think will be an ideal "street" converter. You will
get used to the higher RPM fairly quickly, this converter
will still have some coupling at lower RPM (should cruise
fine at 1500 on the level). LT1 probably wants to stay
with this sort of RPM unless very modded for top end.
2.1 STR is sensible, not a super hard hit to the tires but
still a gain over stock and leaving you with a broader
torque multiplication, not such a sharp and fast-fading
peak. Enjoy.
You may feel "mushy" at first but discover that this is
really letting the engine slide into powerband at will,
under pedal control.

This is absolutely right. I have a heads, cam, longtubes, etc., C5 and am running a Yank SS3200. It makes for a fantastic daily driver and high performance street machine. The car still pulls at idle and, at partial throttle, feels like a stock converter. My only problem, if you can call it that, is that I have to learn a new technique to launch it without frying the tires. A slow roll into the throttle seems to work best, but is kind of hard to do. I keep wanting to floor it. You will love this converter. By the way, I have 3.15 gears.
