Default trany choice help please

ok i need as much info as i can get on this please guys...
havent decided on the cubes yet, either 408 or 383, maybe 347 depending on a few thing but motor is going to recieve a LOT of n2o and i know the stock tranny will eat its self so...

what is the strongest 4l60e you can buy?

Is it worth the extra money to get a 4l80e instead of building a 4l60e?

I dont really want a th350/400 but may consider one with a gear vender unit on it so as much info on the subject as i can get the better.

I want over drive, the car must drive to the track (120 mile round trip)

Check out our web page for the level 5 extreme duty. I would need to know what kind of rwhp #'s you plan on putting down. A 4l80e might be over kill however it would be much stronger.

if you have the extra money and don't mind a modified install (which could be a pain) get the 4L80E in my opinion. it may be overkill but it's practically bulletproof and will take punishment all day, every day assuming you maintain it with fluid/filter changes (use, not abuse!). it's heavy though.

i don't know much about the 4L80E swap, just my opinion.

Sorry to hijack but...

Vince, would your Level-4 4L60 hold 430rwhp?

I have little faith in the 4L60E. Next time money is spent on my tranny (hopefully that will be awhile as I have none to spend) it will be for a Turbo 400 and the car will no longer be a daily driver.

I say Turbo 400 or, if you must have OD/lockup 4L80E. No such thing as a transmission that is too strong, IMO.
