Default Tranny slipping

Ive got a 99 z auto. Problem is I was driving to work, got almost there, stopped at a light, and when I went to take off, the rpms just reved up and I was hardly moving. After letting it cool down it would accel but its slipping like heck. If I go at lets say 30% throttle id be red lining it right away and wont shift out of first gear. I noticed the day before it seemed like it slipped alittle changing gears, but I didnt pay much attention to it as I thought it was nothing. So it pretty much went right then and there. Does anyone have an idea what it could be? Ive got a shift kit in it and a Yank 3500 stall, few years old. About all else I know is my friend hooked up his hp tuner and the place that tuned my car had the line pressure way high. Is there a way to tell if the torque conver is fried? Im ready for a rebuild but if I need a new converter I cant afford that yet. I tried driving in reverse and it slips there too. Yes I checked the tranny fluid. Any input would be great.

To me it sounds like your tranny is getting ready to go bye-bye. What kind-of trans is it? 4L60E? built or stock?
