would that be a problem going with m1 synthetic for the engine then going with valvoline dexron 3 for the tranny? or should i stick with the mobil 1 dexron 3 too for the tranny?

DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT PUT SYNTHETIC AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID IN A 4L60E!

i'll repeat: do not put SYNTHETIC automatic transmission fluid in your transmission.

for engine, i'd recommend "made in germany" castrol syntec 0W-30 oil. tests show it's the best oil in an LSx engine. for your transmission, use plain old dexron ATF.

mobil makes a non-synthetic dex 3 that is very good and what i prefer to use.

im looking at going with valvoline atf dexron 3. that one and the aamco tranny fluid seem to be the popular choices.

why are you yelling at me i'm trying to stress stay away from the mobil 1 brand name with tranny fluid but not with oil, but i'd recommend castrol 0W-30 over mobil 1. pretty much any dexron 3 brand should be fine. it's all basically the same stuff.
