locally we have a tranny shop with one. they seem to really like it. it is behind a 4500 lbs chevy 1/2 ton turbo pickup. it hammers the et drags.

If you're looking to go low or even mid 9's, you don't need to worry about a transbrake on a 4l60. You need to be thinking about a transbrake on a TH400. Or at least on a TH350.

I guess maybe I'm confused. If you're planning on running low 9's (in a 1/4 mile, not an 1/8th mile) the car is not going to be a nice comfy 30 MPG daily driver. What possible use could you have for an OD transmissions of any kind in a low 9 second 1/4 mile car? Do you realize how fast a low 9 second car is? Seriously, no BS. Do you know? I'm not saying you cannot drive a low 9 second car around a little bit but it isn't going to be a daily driver or an interstate assault vehicle. Are you sure you don't need to reevaluate your goals somewhat? If you truly want to stick with an OD tranny and especially if you want to keep your T56 you need to be realistic. I just don't want to see you throwing good money after bad as the old saying goes.

You definately should not be looking at OD transmissions with a goal like that. If you have a lot of money to throw around look into a built 4l80 or using an overdrive unit on a th400.

If you were turbo you could run 2.75 gears like I do and not have a need for overdrive. I'm pretty sure a 2.75 gear wouldn't work as well on your setup as it does on mine.

My goal is mid 10's with my car. Why does every always say they want 8.xx or 9.xx. Most don't realize how fast that is. My car traps mid 120's and even though i'm use to the car it still feels fast every time I get on it, just doesn't scare me (until I up the boost again, then I get a week of being scared until i'm use to it again).

you can build a 4l60e to handle that 9 second run but its gona be hard on the res tof things with a good stall to hit your goal. and most of these guys are right 9 seconds is fast and not the most efficient street car haha but it can be done just shop around and youll find what you need.
