Default Tranny fluid spilling from pigtail plug(wtf?)

So, my tranny was low on fluid, and I found out that it is spilling out from the top at the spot where you plug the pigtail in(the cord with like 8-10 wires).

I didn't know that spot even had a connection to where the fluid is, how does that work? anyone know how I can fix that?

excuse my lack of knowledge on this part, but if I take the pan off, will I need seals for the pan itself? and I have decently dexterous fingers, and can reach inside that area without removing the pan, so would that work, or do I for sure need to take it off?
