Default 4000 stall people with granny gears

Why do some people keep the stock gears with such a high stall? Is it safer on the stock rears or something? How does it drive and feel?

I have 2.75 gears and a tight stall but it goes to 4500 rpms under boost, does that count? Car drives like a dream.

I like shifting into 3rd at 120 mph Great on highway rolls against sport bikes, every time they shift a gear they fall farther behind.

with a stock 10 bolt, i've been told the 2.73's are a thicker gear and therefore are stronger... plus its easier on the 10 bolt itself... i'm keeping my 2.73s and stalling my car hopefully next weekend

I had a 4000 stall with 3.23s in my old car for a while. It was pretty loose but very good for stoplight racing. It was very easy to roll into the throttle and launch the car hard and the car pulled hard everywhere. Raising the part throttle shift points with HPT helps. Putting 3.73s improved the feel for daily driving but made it tougher to stoplight race. 3.73s improve SOTP feel but don't add a lot at the track.

Excellent info...I was on the fence about restalling to 4K with my 3.23's. I'm sold .

keep the 2.73's or 3.23's no need to change
, not much gain is seen, just weaker rears and worse gas mileage lol
