Default help! where did 2nd gear go?!?

it was slipping for a while, but now it just doesn't engage at all. i have an A4 Z28. i'm clueless. i have enough fluid and the motor was rebuilt a few thousand miles ago

but that doesn't make sense. first gear engages when both solenoids are on. second is only solenoid B, third has both off, and fourth has solenoid A on. it looks something like this

# A B
1 on on
2 off on
3 off off
4 on off

if solenoid A does not work properly, i shouldn't be engaging 4th either....please correct me if i am wrong. i don't know too much about auto transmissions
