Default Yank/ Vig 3600

im debating between the 2. i plan on going with X1 230/227 cam. which would be more suited for a daily driver street car? it will never see the track. i want something, that will be nice and tight when driving around to where it seems as though i dont have a stall. which would be better quality? who has actually ran both? any pros and cons?

i love the vigilante. i had the 3600 and then went to a fuddle 3800... going back to vig. ive had other no name converters but they all sucked hard.

232/232 .600 cam... vigilante is the only one to throw my car into the sweet spot every time. felt the best

i know i cant go wrong with either. most of the sponsors that i have talked to said, since its a street car opt for the vigilante. but yank is a good one also. decisons, decisions..lol.

with a 3600 stall its going to feel like your driving through mud when just put putting around until you get on it. so for a DD you might want to get maybe a 3000 stall

i totally agree. i really wanted to run a 3200 at the biggest. but everybody keeps saying go bigger, and bigger so i figure go 3600. but thats what some sponsors said. just go 3200 since it will be tighter and that since ill be driving around town and everything else.

3500 here and it's hardly like driving through mud. It takes ~1500 RPM's to get moving slowly and 2000-2500 to stay with traffic if you so desire. After a few days of driving it, it feels normal and very close to stock. And getting on it is a beautiful thing. Shift extension of 5100 and nailing it while cruising results in at least 4200 revs immediately. I am seriously considering restalling to 4K now that I know what a 3500 feels like. Do no be afraid to go big. It is not bad at all. And this is a DD....haven't seen the track yet with the converter.

Sorry, I know it doesn't answer your quesiton about which brand to go with. Both are great companies, but I vote Yank.

EDIT: Wow, a couple years have passed since I originally posted in this thread and the SS4000 came and went. I now run a PT4400 which puts my last two converters to shame (ST3500, SS4000). Three Yanks, all performed flawlessly.....Yank still has my vote .

Yank must have a dozen or so different 3500-range
converters. The SS line seems (from reading) to be
one of the better suited to the street but depending
on your style of driving and setup there are quite a
few others that might be more suited. You ought to
discuss it with them directly if you haven't. From the
things I see, you ought to compare the Vig3600 to a
higher stall like 3800 or so, from whoever else. The
3200 Vig is more like a 3500.

personally i say Yank all the way

vig underrated big

the vig 3200 is Very similar to the yank 3600

personally ive driven a Yank 3500 quite a bit and i LOVE how it felt around town, locks up real nice @ 40mph or so and cruises nicely

atfirst i was very hesistant about stalling big (i live in NY & drive 20,000 a year)
so i was considering the yank 3200.... after driving many different stalled f-bodys
im DEAD set on the Yank SS 4000

goodluck with it, you'll be happy either way

The Vig 3600 is going to be more like a Yank SS4000. For your purposes, I would definitely go with the Yank SS3600. Or if you want to be even more conservative, the SS3200. A friend has that converter and it feels identical to my TCI 3000 - very tight around town and a joy to drive.

thanks guys, the car is really a strictly daily driver. it wont see the track. i have no plans to run 10's, or roll on slicks, or anything like that. ill look into that ss3200 and vig 3200.

My first stall was the TCI SSF 3500, after a VERY short period of time, I did not even feel like I had an aftermarket stall in there. I just recently went with a yank ss4000. Yank all the way! Great stalls.

My partner in crime has one in his 2002 SS and the yank is a monster compared to his old VIG.

Well I just ordered my Pro Yank and Yank saved me $ on extending the body of the converter so I dont have to buy the crank spacer!

I love my Yank converter while others feel it's a bit loose especially while trying to back up onto a ramp. A bigger cam will help the mushing feeling as well as changing gears. All up to the individual.

i was about to order a vigilante for my car but wasn't sure about the stall i'd need. i read some stuff on PI's page and it said more than 3000 isnt good for the street. mine is going to be street but i still want it to hookup nice. i have a cc305 cam and a pro built trans. if that makes a difference. and also 17''s which i never realized were a problem for traction but they did spin a lot on me.
