Default what is a 4l80e???????

I havnt heard of them much and have no idea what they are. I have a M6 in my car now, but was an A4 so all the wires are there for an A4. (99 transam)
whats better about the 4l80e? Major difference? how compatable is it w/ factory pcm? wires plug right in? does it use same converter as a 4l60e?

It's the heavy duty auto that they put in the trucks. It's heavier, needs an adapter for the harness, and is pretty much a waste of money to "upgrade" to because a built 4l60e can be had for cheaper. Not sure about the TC on it though.

cheaper? few hundred bucks for a 4l80e or a 4l60e built cost how much? couple grand?
Why would it be a waste of money? I dont want a 4l60e, and I dont want to build a tranny.

I have hptuners so what all would be involved.

The 4L80E is the auto you need if you plan on a true 650+rwhp. Figure on about $5000 for everything.

I have one behind my blown, nitrous 383 and love it.

I was sick of breaking the 4L60's.
