Default Aluminum driveshaft?

I have got 2.73s so that means it came with a steel drive shaft. Would I feel much of a difference changing to an aluminum driveshaft?

If there's nothing wrong with yours I'd leave it alone - kept my steel one after putting a 3.42 rear in my car.

Sometimes there is a vibration at higher speeds. I had it on both my LT1 cars and replaced each of them with aluminum and that took care of it. So I went ahead and swapped to aluminum on this car when went to 3.42's.

I started with a steel one, but got a weird vibration at 80+, so I swapped in an LPE aluminum one and porblem was solved. I didnt really feel anything, but it cant hurt as it is 10lbs or so lighter.

like 2001NBMZ28 said if it's good don't mess with it. The weight difference isn't big enough for one of the first few mods, but if you have vibrations or need work on the steel shaft go for an upgrade to aluminum. I pulled my steel shaft out and put in a used aluminum with my swap from A4-M6, the steel shaft is still good, never had any issues, but the aluminum came with the kit so I threw it in.

if you dont have vibes then I wouldnt worry about it. Although depending on how much lighter the AL Ds is than your steel one, you'll loose a little rotational mass and that's anot a bad thing at all

i wouldnt mess with it, the alumn. DS have a tendacy to warp and wobble at speeds and arent near as strong as the steel ones....the chance of snapping one is higher, and its not worth the money, hassle, and small amount of weight gain.....steel is strong...save your money and go with carbon or chromemoly

well it would seem like you lost a few pounds doing this, and every pound adds up..
