Be sure it's a leak. Usually you get some fluid there from pulling the old converter off, especially if you didn;t clean the bellhousing up well before it was put back on.

Well I've been driving it for 2 days and made some track runs last night so I guess it was put in right. But is it possible that the tranny might not have been put in correctly on the dowel pins?

dont know much but after f'in up one install i figure it might be a seal? or possibly residual trans fluid from a messy install. from my understanding if the trans isnt installed correctly onto the motor it just screws everything up...
if you overfilled it wouldnt be coming from the front seal in the bellhousing so i guess thats ruled out, cooler lines are too far away, worst case i guess you might have a crack somewhere but thats unlikely, let me know if you find out whats wrong...

Well I've been observing it all week and I did't notice any oil on the ground. Took it out to the track tonight and on my third run when I launched the car bogged out for like two seconds and all my lights in my cluster lit up like when you start the car. My friends also noticed sparks coming from underneath the car when that happened. I checked the car out when I parked and noticed it was leaking tranny oil from the same spot as before.

There's a little O-ring on the snout ("turbine shaft seal")
that is supposed to be replaced at every opportunity,
but lazy or ignorant installers would miss it. This can
harden up and not seat to the new running surface in
the new converter, and weep.
But I don't expect it ought to make like a Christmas
tree.

What manufacturer made the TC. I had a Midwest TC and it leaked no matter what I did. I replaced the front pump seal/bushing and pump oring. It still leak tranny fluid. I sent the TC back to Midwest and there was a hairline fracture in the front cover of the TC. Needless to say, they sent me a brand new TC. It leaked more when the transmission was hot.
