Default Converter before Cam or Cam before Converter?

I have a 98 TA WS6 with Pace Setter Long Tubes, Cats Removed, Pace Setter Y Pipe, Flowmaster, K&N Filter, Cold Air Lid. I am thinking about putting a Cam in however I'm not sure whether or not I should get a converter first. The car will need to remain somewhat steetable, I would still like to be able to drive 55 miles to work in the summer somewhat often. Any thoughts and help would be much appreciated.

TC first for sure. It is ok to drive around a stock cam with a big stall, but a big cam and a stock stall no way.

Converter first. If you do the cam first it won't be very streetable.

I went to the track a couple weeks ago, it seemed like I had a hard time hooking up. I have BFG KDW tires but I left them at regular driving pressure. Should I be reducing my tire pressure at the track? Also, if I got a converter wouldn't it be even harder to hook up?

Do the TC 1st. However when you do the cam make sure it (the cam) matches the TC/gears.

Converter then cam.......BUT choose the cam you want first, that will tell you what size stall you need to pick.

on my 235/75/15's on the cadillac, I dropped the pressure to around 25, which worked pretty good, but down to about 20 and theyhooked better, but the top end was a bit squirly, so I bumped it back up a bit. on DR's, as low as 15 could be optimail, but most do 18ish.

*Back on topic* These guys have it on the money. even a stock torque cammed caprice will like a 3000, and love a 3400 stall. A guy I talked with was telling me about his racing. He gained .1 going from a stock caprice cam to a zz3 cam, and then .5 from a 2800 convertor.

Convertor then cam. but like stated pick the convertor and gears to work with the cam you want. research, and buy once.

All,

Thanks for all of the good information, it looks like I will need to get a TC first. Im thinking about somewhere around 3000 - 3200 stall? What would I ecpect making this switch? I have never driven a car with an after market TC before?

i just installed a yank ss3600 and I love it yes its my dd and im young but i love the drive now it woke the car up ALOT. I have been wondering what it would be like with a bit bigger stall but i think for a dd its perfect and with a cam it would work well id imagine but as the other guys say make sure you plan your mods to work together or you'll be buying and selling parts liek a swop meet.

It would work, but not as good as a 4000+ . Specs on that cam are something like 234/242 .539"/.558" 112 right?
