Default tranny costing hp

can a tranny be busted without a person even knowing it? the reason i ask is because a few months back my car dyno'd very low considering all the mods i had only 309rwhp 369tq. recently my tranny broke. i was just wondering even though my car had been running seemingly smooth could there have been something wrong with my tranny orstock converter back then causing such low numbers? i was thinking that even though the car was seemingly running fine there was something causing me a nice amt of hp? maybe my trans was real inefficient but still workin? anyboyd have any ideas.

Well the transmissions can to some extent affect power , slipage , distorted or twisted converter fins are always a possibility ,
At any rate you can try it again after you get new transmission and find out ,

well in the case of the converter yes you can have massive power loss due to distorted and bent fins and not have any noise or anything
