Default tranny problems i think help!

I was on the highway and my engine started making this loud whinning noise. I pulled over and let it sit. I started it back up and i would barely give it any gas and it would go all the way to 4000 rpms before shifting. NOt to mention it was only going 20mph at 4000 rpms!!! When i got home i checked the tranny fluid. It came about a inch over the second dot and its still pink. IM really stumped. My rear end got banged up when i hit a curb 2 months ago. Its been making some hagard noises and im wondering if there is anyway it could be rearend related. I doubt it but at this point i dont understand how my tranny could go when i only have 45,000 miles on the car and its bone dry stock.
