...what condition is the trans in? how many miles? does it slip of shift hard in certain gears? do you have any vibratioins at higher speeds? when was the last time you dropped the trans pan, howd it look? the 4L60E trans is one of the weaker transmissions out there, i would think it could handle 400+ hp depending on the condition, I think itd be a clean swap for a TH400?

Condition seems good (have not actually taken it apart yet). Dropped the trans pan on sunday and everything was good. No slip or shift hard. There are really no vibrations.

It's a crap shoot. It may last 50k miles after your power upgrades, it may start slipping after 1k miles. Keep your tranny cool and the fluid clean and start saving for a performance rebuild....you'll need one eventually. That said, I've beat the absolute hell out of my stock 65k mile tranny w/3600 stall & tranny cooler and the car sees WOT shifts (6600rpm) every time I drive it. I change my fluid every year (~1500miles) and keep the temps under 175*F.....still going strong & shifting fine for now.

4l60e is the shittiest tranny ever. Mine broke on a stock ta with only 45,000 miles on it. Was babied and showed no signs it was gonna break before it did. Id listen to jmm98ls1 and start saving your money. You never know with our transmissions.

See sig.
Tried a performance rebuild on my stock 60E when it went out and the new one lasted about 25k before losing 3 and 4.
If your going to beat the crap out of it, shift it yourself, downshift and punch it.......you know, the things that make life worth living. Then upgrade your trans.
