Default Tranny problems

Possible fornt sprag issue?

Doesnt work when the car is in drive. Must be put into drive 1 or 2 to start moiving but once the car is moving it will work in d. Any idea? Help would be appreciated. Also would the cost be effective to replace or rebuild or fix?

if the car moves in drive but not in overdrive , as you described it will either be a front sprag or forward clutch issue , since in both cases you are turning on the overun clutch which simply bypasses both ,
in either case your cost will end up similar to a complete rebuild , Probably be a good time to consider and upgrade ,
