Default what's going on in my 4l60e?

ok so this started happening the other day. sometimes on the highway my trans feels like its slipping, alot like if i had a non lockup higher stall tc. it's fine through acceleration but it's a little late shifting to 4th gear then feels like its slipping up to about 2000-2200 rpm. i'm wondering if i need to flush it out or is something wearing out in there?

I'm getting ready to have my transmission worked on this weekend, mine has been slipping a lot and shuttering when the torque converter locks up. I guess there's some deal about a valve in the valve body that wears itself out over time. I really don't know if you're problem is the same as mine but you might want to do a search on a TCC Valve Kit.

Sounds like a lockup clutch issue , Though it could be a 3-4 clutch going to how does the 2-3 shift feel ?

2-3 is great. when it did it this morning, 3-4 was fine too, just slipped alot after it shifted. usually it doesnt slip unless i try to manually shift it to 4th after 50 mph so the trans is locking the tc and shifting at the same time. i'm sure that's really good for it lol...

ok, i know i talked to you on the phone but for anyone else that would read this, the codes are not transmission related, so i'm stumped.

I may have the same symptoms as you. Performabuilt help us out. When im on the highway doing 70ish or higher in D when the car downshifits it usually is fine. If its in 3 the 3-4 downshift (i guess) the tranny tries to downshift but acts like it doesnt know where its supposed to be. The rpm's shoot up then come right back down like the car is bogging almost like traction control is on. If you ease into it then nail it, it will shift fine. My O2 extentions are rigged up when I did my headers. removed my air pump and all that egr stuff could this be somthing electrical such as a code being thrown. I know i have several SES lights on but im not really going to worry about it till I get my PT4400 in and my rock on stage 4 in a week or 2 + cam so ill tune that BS out. What I dont understand is how would it make it weird shift downshifting from a roll? From a stop if you just let it rip 130+mph it shifts fine?

oK SUNSET , THE STALLS AVAILABLE FOR THE LS1 WERE UP TO 2300 FACTORY ,your issue may be normal just a case of the converter locking and unlocking a cruise and the stall at lower speeds , If your not setting any codes this is most likley the case, The other possibilty would be a bad converter , But more than likley you just have the higher stall ,
Automagic
You need to get your car scanned get me the numbers not what they mean and send them to me
thanks

well would you be surprised if i told you i seriously doubt it's a 2300 stall? i've never been able to hold the brake and gas above 1600 rpm without the tires breaking loose.. this problem is random but it's recent. i'm just going to do a trans flush and see if it fixes itself, if not, back to the boards lol.

ok well i did some research of my own and i found out that my "problem" really isnt a problem at all. the lockup clutch doesnt engage untill the transmission is at operating temp, and i didnt mention this but it's not engaging when cold, so there's nothing wrong! yay.. i appreciate the timely responses and the effort you put forth to help me out. i guess since the weather started cooling off it just hasnt been locking up as quickly as it did during the summer. i probably still need to do a flush though lol.

I never thought that could happen? Cooler tranny temps causing converter to not lock?

ok i need to revive this thread. i've found it doing it warm now too. does it sound like the lockup clutch failing now? i know it's hard to diagnose a problem without driving the car, but i'm trying to give you as much info as i can. also when it shifts to fourth sometimes it feels like it slips for a sec then catches, could this be the overdrive band wearing out?

I will say that I had the same problem for about 2 months, then BOOM... the 3/4 gears went South. Apparently, no TCC lockup issues causes premature transmission wear. I've read that on this board, but can't recall a thread title. Hope that you get it fixed, else you'll be in my shoes... no transmission.

Well its sounding more and more like you are having a failure either with the converter clutch or 3-4 clutch or both , I to do not beleave this is a tuning issue but a failure ,

I've never seen an LS1 F-Body's with a 2300 stall. It would have been a huge improvement. Stock was about 1600 - 1800.

I don't think the vettes did any better than 1800 either, but I'm not 100% certain.
