Default a4 slipping?

About a year ago, my tranny (4L60E) took a dump and about left me stranded. I then had it completely rebuilt with a transgo shift kit and a rebuilt torque converter. Today when I went to the store, the car rolled 100,000 and at the next light, the tranny started slipping, it would barely move out of the intersection. The warrenty on the tranny expires on the 21st, so I took the car back to the place where it was fixed. On the way to the shop, the car ran fine and it pulled strong all the way to 5 grand. I continued to the shop, and told them the situation I was in and said to just drive test and figure out whats going on.

Any ideas on what it could be? I have very little knowledge when it comes to tranny's and I do not want this guy to give me some BS answer to the solution.

Thanks
Bryan

Well the shop said that there was some sort of pistion that had shattered? Does anyone have any idea what that could be? He said it was due to abuse... Any ideas.

My transmission was slipping a little too a while back. It would also hold gears way too long. I took it to the dealership and they said it was just a TPS (Throttle Positioning Sensor). They were right. Less than 100 bucks and everything has been fine since.

The piston that broke was it a forward clutch piston or the forward accumulator piston? On most valve bodies we update from the plastic accumulator piston that does break to an aluminum one. As far as the forward clutch apply piston we never use the aluminum one. We use new steel bonded ones and I have never seen one of these break. Did they cover you repair free of charge? These are two pieces that should of been covered regardless if it was abused or not! Vince

True and since it sounds like the shop built it knowing it was for performance use , Abuse shouldnt have been and issue anyway !They should have just fixed it .

Well the tranny is ready. He described it as a pistion within a servo had broke. I am not sure where a servo is or what he is talking about, but what ever. He said that they replaced it with a stronger one, didnt say what kind or who made it.

Aamco is the company rebuilding it, I know it isnt the best, but they had a year warrenty, and I was in a bind last time. That is why I took it back there, because the warrenty expires on Sat.
At least its fixed, we will see if it holds up.

THe next time you have it built put in the Raybestos Z-Pack clutches and the extra wide 2nd band. You won't regret it.

Well I just went and picked it up. It was the accumiator piston that broke. He replaced it with an aluminum one. The only problem now is the fact that someone killed my rear bumper. Put a nasty scuff in it down the ridge on the right side. I brought it to his attention and he said he could take care of it at the body shop down the road. I am going to clean it up and see what i can get out. If not, I think I will get him to spray the bumper. Its faded anyway, so why not.
