add 4 back start in park run a minute then check and add till full could be as little as four and as much as 7 depending on how long the pan was off since the converter tends to drain slowly the entire time

I would add 4 1/2 quarts, fire her up and move the shifter through all the gears. Start at 1st and wait 10 seconds then shift to 2nd waiting 10 seconds do this on all gear positions. What your doing is filling up all the valve body openings and orifices. Also don't fill it all the way to full when the fluid hasn't got up to temp yet, or you will overfill it like I did, and end up sucking some out to get the proper level. Check fluid level when it's at operating temp idling in park. GoodLuck
