Default Would you recommend this?

I'm looking to put a converter in and change the rear end gears. I called up TCI to get a recommendation and price quote. I told the guy there I would change the gears also(stock 2.73s). He said I should go with the Breakaway 2,400 stall if I get 3.23's. Told me I would need 3.73s or 4.10s if I want to go higher. You guys agree with him? 2,400 doesn't sound like a big difference over stock. I'm getting sick of the lack of power, so I feel like sticking 4.10s in there so I can get a higher stall. It's hard to tell what I want cause I have never drove in a stalled car or with 4.10s. But is it annoying to drive a A4 with 4.10s and maybe a 3K stall?

well depends on what your looking for. if its not a DD go with a yank 4200 or if its a DD then go with a 3600 or 3800. you dont really need to get different gears b/c ur stock ones will actually be stronger than the other ones. wait until u decide to get a 12 bolt or something.

Please don't go that high in your LT1...

I'd go 3000.

Ok, now I got someone knockin on TCI. What would you recommend then, for a bolt on + suspension DD? But I need to get rid of these 2.73s. At least 3.23s

Ok, I'm asking around to see what companys say whats best for me. As I said before, TCI recommended a 2400stall if I go to 3.23s. Talked with Yank and they said their SS3200 even if I keep the 2.73s. I'm getting vastly different recommendations here. Also Yank says I don't need a shift kit or trans cooler with that small converter. It's interesting to see opinions from Yank, and members on here saying you need a shift kit and cooler.

But just for the record, I plan on getting a cooler cause of heavy traffic.. but doubt the shift kit.

a shift kit is always a good idea but you dont NEED it. yes you do NEED a cooler if you plan on driving in the city. 2400 stall would be like putting a 212/216 cam in your car. you;d feel it, it would be nice for a few weeks but in the end, you just wasted 400$ and you'll end up with a bigger one.
