Default Lockup/Not locking up

2002 T/A I have a PT4000. When leaving the car in overdrive it will shift fine and lockup on the highway im guessing youd call it. After awhile the car wont shift if you stop the car leaves in 2nd gear like a 2nd gear start. If you let the car sit for like 15 minutes it drives fine. Could the car need tuned? Somthing electrical unplugged? Or other problems?

Just pulled the car in the garage before I made this post and it WOULDNT start in 1st gear only 2nd. Let it sit. I just Unplugged the battery for 5 mins or so to see if it would reset anything, took it around the block and 1st gear just magically came back and probably will remain there for the next hour and it will go away then shut the car off for 15 mins and it will come back. So performabuilt please explain that limp mode in detail for me and what would cause it. Thanks man!

Limp mode is basically power cut from tranny due to a hard electrical fault,Shorted solinoid wiring ect , it should show a code you need to have it scanned
limpmode caused 3rd gear only in the d and od position

Thanks for the input. I will investigate tomorrow or when i get back from work and let you know what I find. I researched some threads such as (I have no first gear lol) and what others are describing is what im going through so we will see what I can come up with. Man when i was going home on the highway and it was sitting at 3500-4K RPM that cant be heathy for the trans it has to be creating ALOT of heat huh?

if you just put the converter in you need code p0757 shut off. Computer sees that the convert is slipping too much and cuts you out of gears...

code wont mess with your shifts since it locks you out of gears.. Shifting problems can happen when changing converters due to slip differences in the converter hence why some experience slower shifts(weaker shifts due to slipping more than stock) and the need for a shift kit/programming to fix it..

no prob. things like this should be a sticky since most exerience all kinds of problems after a converter change and think the trans or converter are bad when its really programming... I too had the same problems so all i did was read read and read some more about trans problems and what causes them..
